Digicel SportsMax announced today that it has secured the broadcast rights to what is being billed as the 'Fight of the Century' between undefeated, five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr and eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 2.

Mayweather, 38, the world's highest earning athlete with a reported net worth of some US$280 million, enters the ring undefeated with a record 47 wins, including 26 knock-outs.

He has won six boxing championships in five different weight classes: Super Featherweight, Lightweight, Junior Welterweight, Welterweight twice and Super Welterweight.

If he manages to retire unbeaten, Mayweather will join just 12 other fighters who have ended their careers without a loss.

Pacquiao, 36, once considered to be the number-one boxer in the world, pound for pound, is the only boxer to win titles in an unprecedented eight different weight classes: Flyweight, Super Bantamweight, Featherweight, Super Featherweight, Lightweight, Light Welterweight, Welterweight and Light Middleweight. The Filipino Pacquiao is bidding to become the first man to defeat Mayweather and goes into the ring with a record of 57 wins, five losses and two draws.

The long-anticipated showdown was agreed in February, after more than five years of on-and-off negotiations, and is expected to be the most lucrative bout in history with Mayweather and Pacquiao set to bank at least US$180 million and US$120 million dollars respectively.
