Odane and Clifford Brown, charged with breaches of the Road Traffic Act, were remanded after their case was mentioned before Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie. Reports are that on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, the two defendants were travelling in a blue Nissan Sunny motor car, when they disobeyed a police order to stop, and sped from St James Street onto North Street, near the post office next door to the courthouse. attempted escape During the attempted escape, a policeman and a civilian were mowed down, following which the car crashed along the side of the road. The Browns reportedly tried to flee the scene, but were caught by other officers, and were later charged. It is understood that the policeman was taken to hospital for a leg injury, while the civilian was hospitalised for injuries to the face. The prosecution revealed that the medical certificate for the policeman who was injured was not on the case-file, as his medical file could not be found. The matter was subsequently set for June 10. |
