A St James man, who reportedly stabbed another man in the head with a knife, after the complainant broke into his house, had his bail extended when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. Barrington Reid pleaded guilty with explanation to unlawful wounding. His case was put off until May 7 as the complainant was not present at court. The allegations are that, on March 25, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Reid was at home when the complainant came inside the house armed with a knife. During the ensuing altercation, Reid took the knife and stabbed the complainant in the head with it. A report was subsequently made at the Granville Police Station, and Reid was arrested and charged. "Why did you stab him, after you took the knife from him?" Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie asked Reid, on Wednesday. "We did a wrestle for the knife," Reid answered. The court was also told that the complainant was of unsound mind. "I am not going
to take the plea in the
circumstances. I will set it for mention," said RM Tie, before subsequently setting the case to return to court on May 7. |
