God delivered me out of surgeries

GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer

Name: Ganeeve Brown-Thompson

Church: Retirement Seventh-day Adventist in St James.

Position: Treasurer and health director.

How long have you been saved? I have been saved for more than 33 years.

How did you get your conviction? There was a crusade in a small community named Campbells.

It was during that crusade, which was being hosted by a pastor named Bloomfield, who is now deceased, that I met God and surrendered my life to Him. The preaching touched my heart and I had no choice but to surrender to God.

What has been the most challenging moment since getting saved? My most challenging moments are when I try to get the brethren to understand the correlation between spiritual health and the physical health.

People seem to not want to accept messages or sermons about health, which is predominantly physical. I try to inform them about the total health, which includes the spiritual, physical, social and mental. These are all important. I try my best to give them the information about health at all times. If one is not mentally and physically healthy, then, spiritually, you are going to have a challenge.

What has been the most miraculous moment since getting saved? Last October, I was delivered by God. I had a surgery which turned out a bit bad. I had to go back to surgery the same day, and do two other major surgeries. I know it was God who delivered me. My blood count went down very low, to the point where it was seen as a fatal blood count. The doctors tried their best. I did not get any blood, but God delivered me. I was saved from dying; and so I am very thankful to God for that great miracle in my life.

Message to Christians: Our lives are like the Bible to some persons. So, the life we live is more important than the message we preach at times. If we are living one way, and saying something different from what we are living, that is a double standard, and many persons will have a problem with that. Our lives are the Bible for some persons, and so we should live what we preach.

Message to non-christians: There is room at the cross for you. Though thousands have gone, there is still room for you. There is room at the cross for you.

Favourite bible scripture: Joshua 1 vs 9

Favourite lines from favourite song: 'Moment by moment I'm kept in His love; moment by moment I have life from above. Looking to Jesus till glory thus shine; moment by moment dear Lord I am Thine'.
