A man who begged the judge for mercy, saying he was sorry for his actions "100 times", was fined $35,000 recently in the Corporate Area Resident's Magistrate's Court for stabbing. Charged with wounding is 20-year-old Jermaine Williams. He pleaded guilty to the offence. The court was told that Williams and the female complainant had an argument at a party. Allegations are that the complainant and her friends left the party and were trailed by Williams who later caught up with them and stabbed her four times in her back. After the allegations were read out, Williams shouted, "Madam , mi a beg yuh - A nuh my lifestyle. Mi have a bright future. Mi sorry a hundred times." Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey responded, "She could have died! She was stabbed four times." The Senior Magistrate also told Williams that stones do not have eyes and knives don't have compasses. He was fined $35,000 or six months' imprisonment. |
