The University of Technology (UTECH) will host its fifth annual Caribbean Conference on Sport Sciences, slated for 8:30 a.m. inside Lecture Theatre four, at the institution's Papine campus today.

The theme Taking aScientific Approach towards Sport Development and Athletic Performance.

Today's proceedings will include noted speakers from UTech, while David Riley, founder of Technique Lab will do a question and answer segment.

World-renowned Tuina massage therapist Errol Lynch from the United Kingdom will also do a special presentation.

Lynch has worked with international football star Robin Van Persie, who plays for The Netherlands and Manchester United.

He is currently working with former world champion and double Olympic silver medalist Yohan Blake.

Another noted speaker will be Nigel B Linton, founder of the Diamond project in Anguilla.

Andre Waugh, a lecturer in the Faculty of Science and Sport believes the conference will help bring sustained success to the island.

"We are demonstrating and not just using words with a conference like this. We see it as an investment in not only the image of the University, but also in Jamaica's sports," Waugh told STAR Sports.

He added that UTech has always demonstrated keen foresight.

"When we (UTech) started MVP-UTech collaboration here, many persons thought that it was impossible to do what we are now doing. We are now seeing the emergence of several other Clubs and Universities who have bought into the idea," he concluded.
