Richy Whiz gets good reviews

Richy Whiz is not your garden - variety artiste. Just listen to the songs on his 'Uprising' EP and you will find an artiste on the verge of a major creative breakthrough.

Richy Whiz shows off his intellect on the Uprising lead single where he talks about the challenges of a "dark system" and shares his philosophies on how to survive the depravity of the ghetto on TheComplain featuring Potential Kidd.

He shows off his 21st century flow on the witty Beach Nurse and inspires echoes of rapper-poet Tupac Shakur with his turn of phrase and witty metaphors and musings on End of Time. The EP is available on the iTunes.

"The feedback has been great to the EP so far, the sales are picking up and I will be turning up the promotion with a videos for Beach Nurse and The Complain," Richy Whiz said.

Born Richard Kishane Bailey on February 4, 1990, the only child born to his mother and the first of four to his father, Richy Whiz feels ordained to do music. His love for the arts came about at an early age. He would often accompany his father, a musician 'Zanzi B', to the Sugar Minott's Youth Promotion Studio where he would interact with talented artistes such as Junior Reid, Nitty Kutchie, and others.

Whiz started building rhythms at 15 after receiving his own computer.Since then, he has carved out an impressive reputation for his ability to create pulsating dancehall rhythms, beats and music.

"I started off helping other artistes put their songs together and then one of my close friends told me to put my own songs to the music. The artiste thing ah mi first love from high-school days. My father was a singer-songwriter, but he got played in the music. he now lives in Africa where he is furthering his music. But I want to make it as a success in Jamaica, so I am going all out," he said.
