Gappy Ranks releases 'Generations' |
|||||
![]() Gappy Ranks Gappy Ranks is taking reggae radio by storm, once again. His new single, Generation, produced by Kemar 'Flava' McGregor, has been released on iTunes, Amazon and eMusic. Generation reflects the spirit of Gappy Ranks' Caribbean-flavoured toasting concept. He enjoys the challenge of creating spontaneous lyrics in the recording studio, enjoying the uniqueness of point-in-time creative moments that cannot be orchestrated or forecast beforehand. "I don't plan or write my lyrics," said Gappy Ranks. "Depending on how I feel that day, I will determine what kind of song I will make. I also unite music and lyrics in an ongoing conversation in which melody and topic are formed. That's the great thing about music, it has no boundaries to the ear or the mind." Generation will appear on his new EP, also titled Generation, which will feature Marcia Griffiths, Barrington Levy and the late Sugar Minott. The EP will be releaseed next Tuesday on iTunes, Amazon and eMusic. Born Jacob Lee Williams in Harlesden, London, Gappy Ranks has recorded three critically-acclaimed reggae albums and performed reggae tours and festivals in Europe, Canada, Australia, Asia and the Caribbean. He won the award for Best Song at the 2005 Silk Awards in London, UK, for his single, Understanding.
