HERE COMES BLU LYON

BLU LYON

He's from a family of entertainers; hence, it was not surprising that Trinidadian Austin Lyons Jr decided to embark on a profession in music. Known professionally as Blu Lyon, his father is Calypsonian Super Blue, while his sister is soca star Fay Ann Lyons.

He was exposed to the musical influences of both the American and West Indian cultures at a young age. The latter years of his childhood were spent in Trinidad with his grandmother, due to the hardships his mother faced in New York, raising a boy as a single mom.

While living in Trinidad, Blu experienced a constant influx of music. This gave rise not only to a love for it as a listener, but it also drove his thirst to become an entertainer. The time spent around his father's musical environment also gave him insight on what it would be like.

"I was interested in anything as long as it had to do with music. I love how a song can have an impact on someone's life," he shared.

He later recorded his first reggae song titled Poor No More. A YouTube video of the song went viral and it became a favorite among many international music lovers and creators. That encouraging reception led him to push himself within the dancehall arena by releasing a mix tape, called Big Business.

Blu is currently working with Beatmania Productions on his Charge Up mix tape which features his colleagues Dexta Daps, Ky-enie and Lady Ali. The music video for his new single Neva Figet Dem recently premiered on Jamaica's Hype TV.
