Two-time Jamaican Olympian Shevon Stoddart has released her first single, which she intends to use to help her raise funding needed for her to prepare for the next Olympics in Rio in 2016.

The attractive and diminutive 400-metre hurdler, who has been singing since she was six, dropped the single called 'Hot Girl' on February 28, which she said has been getting a lot of positive feedback.

"It's a song about someone who is confident and going after their goals," said the Olympian who debuted at the Olympics for Jamaica in Athens in 2004.

She is currently not signed to a label, but plans are in place for that to happen in the foreseeable future as she also prepares to release an album.

"I'm building a great team and working on the best way to empower and reach my fans," she said. "My genre is pop music; however, my album will show range and much variety."

Stoddart, who has run a personal best of 54.47s, explains that the funding she is attempting to raise from the song will help her cover all the bases as she aims to make Jamaica's team for her third Olympiad.

"Puma is still my sponsor and I'm still your Puma Girl. As an athlete, there are a lot of things you need on your quest for gold. All my sponsors help me on the quest in different areas," she said.

The song is available on iTunes and on ShevonStoddartmusic.com and those patronising can download the song by contributing a minimum of US$2.

Meantime, Stoddart, who turns 33 in November, said she has no plans to ever stop representing Jamaica. "I plan on represent- ing Jamaica for the rest of my life, on and off the track, musically, athletically, and otherwise."
