St George's College reached their first senior schoolboy cricket final in 19 years after they defeated Calabar high by five wickets in their Group E semi-final game at St George's on Wednesday.

The Georgians will meet Campion College in the final after the Liguanea school, who had the longest shot at reaching the final, and turned back St Catherine high by 60 runs to book their spot from Group F.

At North Street, Johane Nelson (70) helped Calabar reach 154 all out in their first inning, against Kirk McKenzie who had six for 52 runs.

In reply, St George's put on 244 for eight declared with Simon Lee top-scoring with 91 against Damarie Martin with three for 66.

Needing just 57 to win St George's reached 58 for the loss of five wickets to advanced comfortably.

For coach, Glendon Coke, reaching the final after nearly two decades is a remarkable achievement but says winning it would be a bonus.

Fellow finalists Campion have inexplicably become a major rival over the course of the season and the team would love to give their only departing player, Gavin Ricketts, a perfect send off present by winning the trophy.

"Since 1996 George's hasn't been to the Grace Shield final, and they (players) are very excited and looking forward to it."

Campion seemed out of contention going into the final game despite their slim hopes, but stunned the group by beating St Catherine.

Campion posted 153 for their first innings with 43 from Neil Johnson and Kevon Stewart.

St Catherine were then bowled out for 125, with Abihjai Mansingh coming up trumps with six wickets for 36.

Campion put on 151 for their second innings, before bowling out their opponent for 113, thanks to another six-wicket haul from Abihjai Mansingh (six for 58).

The three-day final is set to start on Tuesday at Melbourne Ova
