A security guard accused of using excessive force after he beat a man he labelled a homosexual, and made claims of dislike towards him, will have to wait a while longer before his fate is decided.

Charged with wounding is Marvin Higgins, who pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The complainant told the court that he was standing alone on Ash Wednesday waiting for friends when he was attacked by the guard.

"Him say him nuh like me, and me a homosexual. Him hit mi with the pipe and ran off when he saw the blood,"the complainant said to the court.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey said, "Too many times we hear about excessive security guards!"

Higgins is to return to court on April 21, as the medical report was outstanding.

A fingerprint order was also made against him.
