Waterhouse captured their fifth Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA)/Jackie Bell KO title when they edged Barbican 3-2 at Harbour View Stadium yesterday

Waterhouse led early but had to come from behind to lift the trophy.

The Drewsland-based club got off to a good start when captain Damarley Samuels kicked into an open goal following a collision between Barbican goalkeeper Shaven Paul and Ramone McGregor in the 10th minute. However, Barbican equalised when Dean Phillips netted from a direct corner kick in the 31st minute that beat 17-year-old goalkeeper George Brown.

Barbican, who are struggling in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) then took the lead when Lennox Russell netted in the 37th minute.

In the second half, Waterhouse came out a determined team, but were denied in the early minutes by good defending from Barbican. Jermain 'Tuffy' Anderson, who scored a hat-trick in a RSPL game against Harbour View four days ago, failed to shine against a Barbican team which played with more purpose. Veteran Steve Green replaced injured Andrew Christie during the second half and played a key role in midfield.

Barbican also replaced Phillips with Akeem Brown. Despite not in top form Anderson found an equaliser for Waterhouse when he headed past the Barbican goalie in the 80th minute. Anderson missed a glorious chance two minutes later as his team picked up the tempo.

With time running out, Tremaine Stewart found the clincher for Waterhouse when he beat goalkeeper Paul in injury time with a long-range shot.

Winning coach Anthony Patrick said his team had to dig deep for victory in the last 10 minutes.

"We had to dig deep to win the game today. The determination was there from the team," Patrick told STAR Sports.

"This is my second trophy since I took charge. Now the focus will be on the Red Stripe Premier League trophy," he added.

Meanwhile, losing coach Marvin Tate said his team made some mistakes that cost them the game.

"We had a good first half, but made mistakes in the second half. We have to settle the goalkeeping position as the goalkeepers are making several blunders," Tate said.

Waterhouse win $400,000 and the trophy while Barbican will collect $250,000.
