Men accused of stealing from credit union in custody |
|||||
![]() Two men accused of stealing money from a credit union were taken into custody in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. Charged with simple larceny are Garfield Mills and Oliver Linton. The court heard that some time ago the JPS and Partners Co-operative Credit Union Limited experienced a glitch in their systems which caused more than $400,000 to be paid out to the account of Mills and more than 500,000 to be paid out to Linton. The amount represents more than what the men had in their accounts. Both accused told Senior Resident Magistrate (RM) Judith Pusey that they had already began making payments after they allegedly used the money. "You all make it sound so sterile and clean. You didn't have a claim of right to it," the senior magistrate told them. The RM ordered that they be taken into custody to be brought back today when they will be sentenced. |
