Accused light thief gets bail extension

A man accused of stealing four lights belonging to the commissioner of police had his bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Charged with simple larceny is Jeril Johnson who pleaded not guilty.

Allegations are that the accused reportedly made off with the lights, that were, unbeknown to him, the property of the police commissioner.

Johnson was subsequently arrested and charged.

"Do you have a lawyer, sir?" asked Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.

"In the process of doing that, Your Honour," Johnson replied.

Subsequently, his bail was extended. He returns to court on May 28 for trial.
