Bjorn Burke, Staff Reporter

A Jamaican illegally residing in the United States was recently arrested following the alleged discovery of 250 bags of heroin in his possession, THE WEEKEND STAR has learnt.

Charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, is 24-year-old Roshane D Henry.

The Cornell University police in Ithaca, New York, arrested Henry about 4:18 p.m. Monday, after a Cornell police officer stopped a vehicle in a parking lot, the Ithaca Journal reported. It is believed that the police detected a hypodermic needle on the floor of the car and also discovered one of the occupants of the car was wanted in Florida for "non-extraditable drug warrants."

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that one of the occupants was also in possession of 250 bags of heroin, valued about US$4,000. Henry, who reportedly entered the United States in 2004 and has remained there illegally since, may face deportation to his homeland.

Henry was arraigned in the City of Ithaca Court and sent to Tompkins County Jail in lieu of US$3,000 bail or US$6,000 bond. He is to reappear in court today.
