Bjorn Burke, Staff Reporter

A man allegedly found in possession of identity information, commonly used in scamming operations, was remanded in custody when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Charged with possession of identity information is Conroy Brown.

Allegations are that, on the day of the incident, Brown was searched by police personnel who found 19 sheets of paper containing the illicit information.

no representation

Brown told the court he remains unrepresented however, he was "trying to get a lawyer".

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey enquired of the investigating officer if he was opposed to granting the accused bail.

According the the investigating officer, Brown seemingly has no fixed abode. As such, he objected to the accused being granted bail.

"Mi live a Majestic Gardens," Brown began.

RM Pusey further probed, requesting that he be more specific.

"The whole of Majestic Gardens," he explained, seemingly unsure of his own address.

"Do you have anywhere else that you stay?" RM Pusey asked.

"I'm not familiar with the address, but I know it's in Lizard Town," Brown replied.

"How often do you stay there?" RM Pusey asked.

"If you come down Lizard Town, you can find me," Brown said.

"You have a little problem yu nuh? You hang out too many places," RM Pusey replied.

"No, I'm not coming down Lizard Town to come look for you. You go from Lizard Town, to Majestic Gardens to Trelawny. Put yourself in my position now. Where I must tell the police they can find you?"

In due course, the sitting magistrate quoted a line from Act 2, Scene 1 of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, "Then, lest he may, prevent."

RM Pusey ordered Brown further remanded in custody until March 17. A fingerprint order was also made against him.
