A man accused of breaking a glass entry door at a supermarket was sentenced to 30 days' imprisonment when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Charged with malicious destruction of property is Lamar Hunt.

soliciting

Allegations are that, on the day of the incident, the accused reportedly went to a supermarket located in Liguanea, Kingston, to solicit customers. It is believed that security guards employed by the supermarket soon became aware of Hunt's alleged activities and informed him that it was against the rules of the establishment. Subsequently, security personnel reportedly asked Hunt to leave several times. Soon after, Hunt allegedly became boisterous and told security personnel "you can follow me and be my bodyguard", presumably in an attempt to frustrate them.

The court heard that the accused was again asked to leave, at which point a boisterous Hunt allegedly made threats, stating that "security violated him, and he should wait until he comes back".

fingerprint order

Sometime later, Hunt reportedly returned with a knife which he used to hit the glass door, resulting in it being cracked.

"It is the most annoying thing when you go to a supermarket and somebody is there bothering you or begging you $20, or a $50 or something," Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey said.

"Your Honour," Hunt interjected. "I'm asking you if you can just give me time to work it out."

Subsequently, RM Pusey sentenced Hunt to 30 days in prison. A fingerprint order was also made against him.
