Alleged murderers granted bail

Roderick Baker was on Wednesday offered bail when he, along with his co-accused Brandon Daley, appeared in the Balaclava Resident Magistrate's Court for a 2012 murder in the Dry River district in Maggotty, St Elizabeth.

Baker, who is from St Catherine was offered $400,000 bail on the condition he resides with his mother in Cascade, St Ann. There, he will report to the Cascade police station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. He was ordered to surrender his travel documents and a stop order was placed at all ports of entry.

Daley, who had been previously offered bail, but had not been able to take up the offer, had his bail amount reduced to $400,000 after his mother told the judge she had been unable to afford the previous amount of $500,000.

His other bail conditions remained the same, that he should report to the Maggotty police station on Mondays, Wednesday and Saturdays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. A curfew order was also imposed for between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. He, too, must surrender travel documents, and a stop order was placed at the ports of entry.
