Mikki Ras adds voice to ganja debate

Reggae artiste Mikki Ras has weighed in on the ongoing ganja legalisation debate with his recently released single, 'Legalise Di Ganja'.

The Clarendon-born artiste, whose real name is Taron Wilson, said he was inspired to record the song after attending a recently held ganja legalisation meeting.

"I got the idea for my song after I went to the meeting in Kingston last month. When I went to this meeting, I heard the opinions and the views of a lot of people who agree that the weed should be fully legalised, because of its economic value and importance to the people of Jamaica," he revealed.

"However, some people still don't realise what could be achieved economically if the weed is fully legalised. It's not just for smoking, there are so many products that can be made from ganja. So I personally think that this two-ounce law is a joke, that's why I recorded the song, to express my views about the whole matter."

The humble Rastafarian said the song has been generating a lot of attention from music lovers both locally and abroad.

"My song is getting a lot of love from my fans in Jamaica, the US, Germany, Canada and Spain. The response it's getting is tremendous, the YouTube hits are increasing daily," said the artiste.

Legalise Di Ganja was produced and released by Mikki Ras on his Unstoppable Music label.

"I recently launched my label and I plan to produce a lot of my songs myself. Having my own label allows me to have greater creative control over my work," he said.
