Not even a meteorologist could have predicted what would have transpired at the University of Technology (UTech) on Ash Wednesday as the Kinetic NRG, 'Paint and Water party', concluded the holiday with showers - artificial showers that is - as water gushed at patrons from all angles.

Staying dry was not an option, unless you were in VIP.

The event was being staged for the third time. as expected, previous editions were outdone. Gates were opened at 8 p.m. until eight hours later when the high-energy party came to an end.

Patrons seemed to be in full celebratory mode as they danced, drank and shouted at the top of their voices, especially when they heard their favourite songs. There was also the foam pit, which certainly added to the excitement on the dance floor. patrons were seen trying to remain dry. However, this wasn't for long as the water eventually caught up with them.

Girls were dressed for the occasion in shorts. males opted for t-shirts, mostly disposable, due to the paint. Patrons were elated as they enjoyed free beverage mixes and danced to selections from DJ Cris Cross, DJ AM, Chromatic, Sun Jock Nero and DJ Rikochey, all night.

The event was promoted as a predominantly soca affair. However, patrons didn't mind with girls gyrating on males non-stop whether the genre was hip hop, dancehall or pop music. Even reggae songs, from Chronixx and Tarrus Riley, made the cut .

The event ended at minutes after 4 a.m. with patrons having little to complain about.
