Magnum Kings and Queens Average performances

Sadeke Brooks, Staff Reporter

While some contestants made major marks in previous weeks, last Saturday's staging of Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall Live Show was on the average side of things.

Sexy Cats was the first to take the stage at the D'Entrance, Constant Spring Road, St Andrew venue. Criticised for not having enough lyrics in her previous performance, the deejay came prepared but was probably over prepared.

"You have to be careful not to overload the song, but good try, and a good start to the show," Miss Kitty said.

Despite being off-key throughout his performance, Kritik got good feedback from the judges. But he was no match for Lady Innocent, who was rather frisky throughout her set, without missing a beat in her song.

Defrence, on the other hand, made a difference and had the audience singing along and dancing. Katara was also liked for her play on words and the use of vehicle brands to bring her point across.

Sean Di Vere was also pleasing, even forcing Skatta to come out of his seat.

"Di way da song deh bad, mi haffi get up. Di man style unique; him diverse," Skatta said.

Angel Eyes didn't move the crowd, but Lava Vein had a much bigger impact when he appeared. Having made such a major impact and even getting a 'pull up' at his previous showing, much was expected from him. While he did not create the same waves, Lava Vein was still well-received and entertaining.

And again, another woman left the crowd unimpressed. M.O. didn't give the audience much to cheer for with her poor song structure. However, as the last contestant to take the stage, Govona J made an impact and had the audience singing along to his song when he sang, "Accessories inna mi bag.""You have done it once again. The song bad from start to finish. You are absolutely amazing," Miss Kitty said.

But the show ended on a sombre note with Likkle Touch, Kranberri, Simple Wayne, and Fyah Roiall getting the lowest votes from Castle Red, and will have to face off for a spot on the show.

The show ended with a performance from Kim Hamilton, formerly Gaza Kym, who entertained with songs like Bills and Amen.
