![]() ![]() GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer Name: Nicholas Dixon Church: Haddington New Testament Church of God in Trelawny. Position: Life Builders president. How long have you been saved? I have been saved since January 2008. How did you get your conviction? I was attending a fasting at church one Tuesday when the Spirit of the Lord moved and a deacon called me to the altar and ministered to me. Right there and then, tears filled my eyes and I accepted the Lord. What has been your most challenging moment since getting saved? I am a family man. I am married. There was a time in my life when I needed a job and it seemed as if I was never going to get one. There was a time when I felt like an infidel, when I could not afford to take care of my family. I was at a very low point in my life. I started questioning God. I asked Him how long my financial trial would continue. I asked what I did to deserve that. Being unable to provide for my wife and my son was a real struggle for me. I could not provide for them how I wanted to. Sometimes, It was difficult to look at them, knowing I couldn't afford certain things. What has been your most miraculous moment since getting saved? I assisted my pastor with baptism. There was a man in my community who was mentally ill. We were having a series of baptisms at church when he walked into the church one Sunday morning and told us that he wanted to be baptised. We decided to baptise him. I remember walking into the pool and persons, even church members, started to walk away. saying that we were baptising a 'madman'. I saw the miraculous hands of God work. He might have walked into the pool as a so-called 'madman', but he came out of the pool as a brand-new man. Since the day he got baptised, he lived an exemplary life in the community. He stopped doing the things he used to do, and he attended church regularly. I believe God saved him for a purpose. He died last October. He was found dead in his room. Message to Christians: The struggles are real. Struggles will always come like giants, but we we should take God at His word. If God tells you to do something, do it. Sometimes, you will not get the approval of others. You must understand that the crowd will not be with you all the time. Always remember that the glory of God is not necessarily in the crowd. As long as God is directing your path, stick to His word, trust in Him with all your heart, and He will pull you through the struggles. Message to non-Christians: God loves you with an everlasting love. He loves us so much, that He sent his only Son to die for all of us. My word to you is to seek the Lord before you die. Oftentimes, sinners say 'tomorrow' or 'a next time' when they are asked to surrender to the Lord, but none of us is guaranteed a tomorrow or a next time. So now is the time to accept Him. Accept Him before it is too late. Favourite bible scripture: Psalm 116 Favourite lines of favourite songs: "I have somebody with me to share my heavy load" and "Hanging by the last thread of hope."
