Jamaica's Sakima Mullings, the World Boxing Council Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) welterweight title holder, will fly to Guyana on Thursday to fight Guyanese Clive Atwell for the vacant (CABOFE) junior welterweight title on Saturday, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown.

Mullings was originally scheduled to defend his welterweight title against another Guyanese boxer, Andrew 'Six Heads' Lewis, but the latter got hurt in training and has been ruled out of boxing for two months.

Atwell agreed to take the fight, but because of his weight, it was agreed that it would be at 140 pounds, the junior welterweight limit, and for that title which is now vacant.

Mullings, who has fought as high as middleweight, which is 160 pounds, told STAR Sports that because of his present training schedule and diet, he had no difficulty moving down in weight class.

Last year, for example, he fought as a welterweight, where the upper limit is 147 pounds, and won the Wray & Nephew Welterweight Contender title.

"I consistently weighed in at 143-145 pounds for the Contender show, so going down to 140 is no problem whatsoever. By training hard and eating properly, my weight is now way down, and I will be very strong and dangerous for this fight," he said.

Mullings, 32, goes into the fight with a very good record. He has had 18 fights, won 17, 12 by knockout, and lost once. The loss was to former Contender champion Rikardo Smith, but he later avenged that defeat with an easy points victory over Smith in their next encounter.

Atwell, 26, is an experienced boxer with a 12-2-1 record. He is a former CABOFE featherweight title-holder, and fought for the WBC world featherweight title against Jhonny Gonzalez last May. He lost that fight by way of a 10th-round technical decision.
