![]() ![]() Newton McKay GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer Name: Newton McKay Church: Port Antonio New Testament Church of God in Portland. Position in the church: Sunday school teacher How long have you been saved? I have been saved for over 10 years. Tell us about the moment you got your conviction: I used to attend church with my aunt when I was younger; however, it was while attending a crusade at my current local church when the pastor was preaching and I just got convicted by the message and the word of God, and I went forward. On the night of baptism, I spoke with my mother about being baptised, and she encouraged me to get baptised, and the rest is history. most challenging moment since becoming a Christian? The period upon receiving the call of God to ministry. Having to deal with the opposition from friends and family and recognising that it was going to be impossible to please many of the persons that I loved and cared about and please God at the same time, and now you realise that you are put in a position where you have to make a decision as to who you would serve. I decided that I was going to serve God and be obedient to the call of God on my life. Most miraculous moment since being saved: I have seen God by His power casting out demons, I have experienced the miraculous provision of God, where He opened doors that I could not even imagine or think that He would have. I have seen where God has answered prayers sometimes down to the specifics. I remember one time when I needed a laptop computer and asked God for one and that I wanted a blue one. Without saying anything to anyone I got one not long after, and it was a blue one. I have also experienced God revealing things to me in dreams and visions, and they have been confirmed without me ever having any knowledge of these things before. Message to Christians: Seek not only to follow the customs or the rituals of Christianity, but rather to seek God with your whole heart and seek to know God more. Do like the Apostle Paul, who says "that I may know Him and the power of His might". Seek to be more aware of God's presence, and lean on Him and trust Him with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. Do not take the message of the Gospel lightly. Share the Gospel with others so that they, too, can experience the joy that we have, as well as the peace and salvation that we have. Message to non-Christians: God loves you and He has a plan and a purpose for your life. Irrespective of your lifestyle, if you should surrender your heart to God and believe in Jesus Christ, you will have forgiveness of sins and enter into a relationship with God. God by His spirit, love, and word will transform you into a new person so that you can have the hope of eternal life. Favourite Bible verse: Proverbs 3:5. Favourite song: 'There is no one else like you'. Feedback:pehenrya@hotmail.com |
