Feel the Vibes at Caymanas

Jimmy, STAR Racing Writer

ROYAL VIBES is up in class, among open allowance runners tomorrow, hunting back-to-back wins after wearing down stablemate ALL CORRECT at 1820 metres on New Year's Day.

Though the distance is 1500 metres, ROYAL VIBES shouldn't have much to complain about in a six-horse field including two of his stablemates, MR LUVAL and RIO COBRE.

The line-up is completed by PHINEAS, dangerous PRINCE ANDREW and Richard Azan's inconsistent PISCEAN ROCKET.

ROYAL VIBES should carry the stable confidence of DaCosta's trio following his determined victory against ALL CORRECT on last. In addition, he was only beaten a length by TIME FOR ARMS when contesting 1500 metres in his previous race, mid-December.

PRINCE ANDREW clocked a terrific time at 1400 metres three weeks ago, 1:25.0. He returns tuned to the minute at exercise. The former Philip Feanny-trained runner stopped watches in 1:28.0, galloping seven furlongs Sunday morning.

Claimed by Neive Graham for $550,000 on December 27, PRINCE ANDREW rewarded his new connections with a victory on his next outing, upstaging DaCosta's duo of ALL CORRECT and HOVER CRAFT, who both finished outside the frame.

The champion trainer is itching for the rematch and has tactically loaded tomorrow's race with speedy RIO COBRE to thwart PRINCE ANDREW's pace.

United States-bred RIO COBRE is faster than PRINCE ANDREW and is bound to drag the gelding for at least six furlongs, setting up the finish for ROYAL VIBES to pounce in the lane.

PRINCE ANDREW might have won strong on last but has picked up 11lb, carrying 123lb, too much weight with which to chase RIO COBRE then thwart ROYAL VIBES at 119lb.

DaCosta is tipped to saddle at least two winners, possibly three, as ALI BABA is preferred to SUPERIOR QUALITY in the opening event at 1500 metres.

SUPERIOR QUALITY destroyed LADY SANGEETA by almost 10 lengths recently but faces a tougher task against ALI BABA, who posted an imposing 1:31.1 when beating SEEKING MY DREAM at 1500 metres two weeks ago.

The champion trainer's debutant, BIG GEORGE, has the railbirds going head over heels in the fourth race for three-year-old maidens after impressing at exercise.

BIG GEORGE is a half brother to grade one runner CRUCIAL APPEAL and has looked good at exercise in the company of POKER STAR and HOVER CRAFT.

However, Gary Subratie likes upstaging DaCosta and his KING WITHIN is no pushover with three outings under his belt. Subratie's runner contested fast splits, 22.4, 46.0, when finishing fourth behind RAS EMANUEL at 1000 metres straight.
