54-y-o man beaten to death

A 54-year old man was brutally beaten to death at his home in Peterkin district in Clarendon on Wednesday night.

He has been identified as Harold Stewart, also called Errol.

The Corporate Communications Unit, the information arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), said two men, one armed with a gun and the other with a stick, carried out the act, minutes after 11 o'clock.

The police report that a female companion, who was at home with Stewart, went outside to get water and encountered the two men.

The men allegedly forced her back into the house where they beat Stewart in his head and over other parts of his body.

He was taken to the Chapleton Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police said the woman was not injured.

Residents have expressed shock at the killing, with many describing Stewart as a polite and jovial person.
