Chad Bryan, Staff Reporter

A teacher at a Kingston high school was injured after she and a gambling student were involved in a fight at the institution yesterday.

The incident is believed to have transpired sometime in the morning.

Information received by THE WEEKEND STAR is that the Grade 10 student was gambling when the teacher, who is said to be the Grade 10 coordinator, went to address him over his actions.

"He was gambling and the teacher went and puff his chest," said a source. A fight later ensued between them both, which played out on the corridor of the block.

"He held on to her and she held on to him, and the teacher fell to the ground," the source added.

When the school was contacted yesterday, a representative claimed he was not aware of the incident.

"This is news to me, actually," he said. When our news team asked if the principal could be spoken to he claimed she was busy. He then stated, "Ok sir, I have to go now, I am extremely busy," before hanging up the phone.

When the school was visited yesterday afternoon, an individual claimed the institution was not being run properly.

The Denham Town police confirmed that the incident did happen. When asked if charges were laid against the student and about the injuries that the teacher had sustained during the fight, the investigating officer stated that the matter would now be before the courts.

She would give no further details.
