I glory blazes with 'Mama Don't Cry'

The streets are talking about the emergence of a new reggae artiste, I Glory, who is setting radio ablaze with his musical stylings on 'Mama Don't Cry'.

Discovered by veteran singer Robert Ffrench and signed to his label, Yawdkore Music, I Glory is now working on an EP to capitalise on the buzz around the song.

"This is going to be a long-term deal, touring with Robert Ffrench, we are setting up merchandising and publishing deals, so once the EP is ready, we are going to take it to the world," he said.

The young man grew up in the community of Boundbrook in Portland. He attended the Boundbrook Primary before earning a place at Port Antonio high school. He is the second of two children for his mother, who raised him without the help of his father.

After graduating high school, he migrated to Greater Portmore in search of work, where he lived in 5 East, Queens Park.

"Idid electrical welding as that was my vocation in school, but football was my passion, soIstopped working to play football.Iplayed for Greater Portmore football team, Dela Vega FC and Progressive Youth club in Port Antonio," he said.

Rastafarianism

He began to experiment with music, and then when he embraced Rastafarianism, his love for music grew.

"My sister was a real good singer, but I was shy growing up. After I embraced Rastafari,Istarted writing and singing music, and I have been on this musical journey for seven years," he said.

I Glory focussed on the tenets of Rastafari and upliftment. He has performed on shows in Portland, and he also hit the stage at the Portmore Seafood Festival.

"To Jah I give the glory," he said.
