German, Irish nationals arrested for drugs

Two men have been charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act after quantities of ganja, cocaine and hashish were found at their home in Lewis district, Pedro Plains, St Elizabeth, yesterday.

Reports from the Black River police are that about 7 a.m. detectives were on an operation in the area when the premises was searched and five ounces (150 grams) of ganja with an estimated value of $2,000, one ounce (30 grams) of hashish with an estimated value of $5,000 and four (120 grams) grams of cocaine with an estimated value of $18,000, along with a chillum pipe were seized.

The persons arrested are 54-year-old Martin Hithey and 69-year-old Andrew Uth nationals of Ireland and Germany, respectively. They are scheduled to appear before the Black River Resident Magistrate's Court today.
