Valentine's at a distance

OK, we understand. You met in Ocho Rios one summer. Had your first date in Florida because you went to college there, and now you're back home in Trelawny and he's in Dubai.

Long-distance relationships can be hard and may take as much or even more effort to work than the regular 'see-you-for-lunch-everyday' kind. However, if it's true love, then the end of the earth is merely another place you're willing to go for your lover. So, on Valentine's Day, when he/she and the old lady are spreading love around, here are some ideas to help you spread your love ... over distances.

Dig In For A Candlelit Dinner Over Skype

Log on to Skype for a dinner session for two. Dim the lights, ignite some candles for atmosphere and (virtually) clink glasses of wine in a toast to reuniting on your next visit. You want Italian dining, but he's aching for some Chinese takeout? Doesn't matter! While other couples dining out together would have to compromise, you can both feast on whatever you want.

Send A Sexy Snapchat

Snap a sexy selfie and send it to your long-distance lover. Snapchat is a mobile app which lets users share images that disappear after a few seconds. In the time it takes them to see it, it's already disappeared into cyberspace forever.

The best part is that as the sender, you can set how long the message is visible (up to 10 seconds, maximum) before it self-destructs. Sounds salaciously naughty, right?

Say 'I Love You In A Video Message Over Vine

Twitter makes this easy with Vine, its new video-sharing app. You can record a short video clip up to six seconds long, and while you might be unsure about how much can really be said over such a small timeframe, with a little creativity, there's a lot you can do with those six seconds!

Hold A Movie Marathon Over The Phone

Long-distance relationships aren't as nearly as romantic as Hollywood would have us believe, but that doesn't mean you can't dream, right? Both of you pick up the phone together and watch a marathon of movies like 'Sleepless in Seattle', 'Going the Distance', 'Like Crazy', 'The Time Traveler's Wife', or 'Cast Away'. At least the characters on the screen feel your pain this holiday.
