Outstanding '80s singer, Junior Marshall, can readily boast of musical accomplishments that most of his counterparts can only dream of - including topping the Billboard's Top 100 chart with the hit song, 'Willy Red'.

The May Pen, Clarendon artiste ruled the dancehall in the '80s golden era on the then Mello Phonic sound system, and, in the process, rubbed shoulders with some of dancehall's biggest stars including Brigadier Jerry, Charlie Chaplin, Bunny General, Barrington Levy, Levan Cliff and other veterans.

However, his life and music took a turn for the worse after he was diagnosed with mental problems and fell on hard times. he is now eyeing a comeback with a number of new tracks, including Cock Fight and Never Turn My Back On Jah.

"It has been rough. I hit rock bottom and all my friends deserted me, but I never lose it (singing skills) and I am taking it (career) up back," the '80s singer admitted to The Star in a recent interview.

"Right now I have those new tunes promoting. To tell you the truth, I don't think Jah turned his back on me either.

Marshall said success in '80s dancehall was characterised by deejays and singers endowed with lyrical stamina. As a product of that era, where the emphasis was on live performances, he is now ready to reclaim a piece of the musical pie.

"I still have life and my talent. I just need another chance," the veteran said.
