![]() ![]() Gary Campbell GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer NAME: Gary Campbell Church: Seventh-day Church of God Reformed, Guys Hill, St Catherine. Position: Evangelist How long have you been saved? I have been saved since 1988. Moment of conviction: My conviction came when I was a teenager. I have always attended church. I was brought up in church, but my conviction came during a dream. I saw the Lord descending from the skies during the dream. I became very concerned that I was not saved. I always read the Bible and, in those days, when you read Revelation, people became afraid. In the dream, the book of Revelation revealed to me. I said I could not allow that to happen to me, so I put in my towel early. What has been your most challenging moment since getting saved? The challenge is to stay the course. It is a minutely, daily fight to stay the course. The tests are ongoing. Temptations are ongoing, so the challenge is staying on course; because you know that this is the path you must be on. However, there are so many distractions. What has been your most miraculous moment since getting saved?: I experienced the wonder-working power of the Almighty one Sunday night, after I returned home from church. I retired to bed and woke up in the middle of the night to use the rest room. I noticed that there was a swelling under my right eye. I felt the thing and went to the mirror and looked at it. I put some olive oil on it and went back to bed. When I woke up in the morning the swelling got bigger and my eyes started to shut. That morning, I had to drive to Kingston. I went to the bathroom and decided that I was not going to Kingston with this big thing under my eye. I went into the bathroom and symbolically held onto the swelling. I, symbolically, took it off, opened the window and placed my hand outside, then let it go. By the time I finished showering, had breakfast and left for Kingston, the swelling was gone. It was gone! Message to christians: Be a representative of Jesus Christ. There are too many negative things being brought on to the church and Christianity. If you are going to be a follower of Christ, be a follower of Christ, wherever you go. Some people are only Christians at church. They show their true selves when they exit church grounds. Maintain the characteristics that Jesus Christ would want us to portray all the time. Message to non-christians: You are taking a gamble. You are taking a real risk. We are not the master of our lives. If you should leave your house without any care that your life can end anytime, that is risky. If a man gets up daily, without acknowledging that there is somebody in charge of his life, he is taking a serious risk. It is reckless to attempt to live without acknowledging the Creator.
