RAYMOND GRAHAM, STAR Writer

JAMAICA College's Obrien Waysome and Kingston College's Twayne Crooks shone brightly at Saturday's Queen's/Grace Jackson Track and Field Meet.

Waysome, who represented Jamaica at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Eugene, Oregon, gave the best performance in the field with a brilliant display of 16.12m to win the Under-20 triple jump.

He got the better of his teammate, Clayton Brown (15.70m) and Calabar's Javier Lowe (14.62m).

Former Vere Technical quarter-miler, Crooks, captured a fine double.

Crooks, who led off Jamaica's 4x00m bronze medal winning team at last year's World Junior Championships, captured the 200m in a record 20.9 seconds, along with the 400m in 47.5 seconds.

It was a clean sweep for KC as Akeem Bloomfield came second in 47.7, with former Kemps Hill athlete, Marco Doodnaughtsing, third in 48.3.

This was Bloomfield's first competition since suffering injury at last year's Boy's and Girl's Championships in the class two 100m.

Crooks, topped the class one 200m, breaking the record of 21.2 seconds set in 2005 by Manchester High's, Nesta Carter.

Calabar's Michael OHara, was second overall in 21.2 seconds. Waysome was third overall in 21.2 seconds.

The Calabar pair of Christopher Taylor and Dejour Russell along with KC's , Jevaughn Matherson stood tall in class two.

Taylor wrote his name in the record books after stopping the clock at 48.6 seconds to win his heat in the 400m, erasing the previous record of 48.7, done by Andre Pratt of JC in 2003.

Matherson won his heat in 48.7 seconds for second overall, with third going to Garvey Maceo's Travis Jackson in 49.5 seconds.

Matherson was awesome, as he, along with Calabar's, Russell had the fair-sized crowd on its feet after a keen tussle in the 200m.

Matherson prevailed in 21.49 to erase former JC standout, Winston Barnes' 2005 record of 21.5.

Russell was just behind in second in 21.50 seconds, with his teammate, Tyreke Wilson finishing third overall in 21.66 seconds.

Russell also won 110m hurdles in 13.8 seconds, the same time as, Alex Robinson who was second, with third going to Jamaica College Jordan Roberts in 14.0 seconds.
