Westmoreland cops search for hit-and-run driver

The police in Westmoreland are searching for the driver of a motor vehicle involved in a hit and run, which left a 44-year-old man dead.

The incident, which occurred last Friday, happened along the Hatfield main road.

The police said about 8:30 on Friday evening, the victim, Keith Oates, of Strathbogie district in the parish, was riding his pedal cycle along the roadway when he was hit from the cycle by a motor vehicle. The vehicle did not stop.

The police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them at 955-2536; police 119 emergency number, or the nearest police station.
