Grammy award-winning dancehall artiste Lady Saw recently fed several homeless persons in the Corporate Area, under her Lady Saw Foundation movement.

According to the artiste, the experience was an eye-opener.

"I went from Half Way Tree to Three Miles and downtown. There was so many homeless people, and when we started to give out food, they were so grateful, and the food finished so fast, especially in downtown, because there was so many of them," she said.

The deejay also revealed that the food was prepared in her own kitchen.

"I cooked the food myself because I love cooking. I also brought sorrel for them. It was so touching, and it opened my eyes, because when people like us complain that life is hard, we should really be grateful and take a look at the lives of the homeless, who don't know where the next meal is coming from. Nor do they have a roof over their heads," she said.

The deejay also said she discovered that many of the persons living in the streets of Kingston are not insane, but are emotionally broken and physically abandoned.

"A lot of them are not mad people, they just need encouragement and an opportunity. You get good returns from doing those things, and I really want to go all out with my foundation," Lady Saw said.
