Tragic passing of sister changed my life |
|||||
Reverend Leslie Pinnock GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer NAME: Leslie Pinnock CHURCH YOU ATTEND: I am a member of the Portmore New Testament Church of God. POSITION IN THE CHURCH: National Youth and Discipleship Director for Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. HOW LONG SINCE BEING SAVED: I have been saved for eighteen years. TELL US ABOUT YOUR MOMENT OF CONVICTION: My conviction came as a result of the tragic passing of my sister. She was hit and killed by a drunken woman one night in Grand Cayman; and after that the Spirit of the Lord just kept asking, 'If that were you, where would you be'. That was when I made the decision to just find a church and go to. So, it was out of that experience that I decided to surrender my life to the Lord. MOST CHALLENGING MOMENT SINCE BEING SAVED: My most challenging moment since I became a Christian is that I have always struggled with seeing Christians not living like Christians. I struggle with how you can be saved but live in a consistent way of evil. I struggle with that. So I am asking myself, is it that they are saved or they are not saved. That for me has been my biggest challenge. MOST MIRACULOUS MOMENT SINCE BEING SAVED: Just about two years ago, my entire family was in our car while we were living in Grand Cayman and I was a pastor there. I was taking my son to football one Saturday morning when the car overturned flat on the side, then went back upon all four wheels, turned in the direction from which we were coming; and everybody came out of it without a scratch. The car was written off totally. I think that was one of the significant miracles. MESSAGE TO CHRISTIANS: Be the light that the Bible asks us to be. Why? Because there are persons who are in a lost and dark world, and Christ says that we should let our lights so shine before men so that they may see and come to glorify Him. MESSAGE TO NON CHRISTIANS: Taste and see that the Lord is good. There is absolutely nothing in this world that can be compared to a relationship with Christ. Once you have tasted it, you will not regret it; and not just living it and enjoying it here, but time is short and tomorrow is promised to none of us. While we have the opportunity today, we should make use of it. FAVOURITE BIBLE SCRIPTURE: John 3:16 A LINE FROM ONE OF YOUR FAVOURITE SONGS: 'I am forgiven because you were forsaken. I am accepted, you were condemned. I am alive and well, your spirit lives within me, because you died and rose again'. Feedback: pehenrya@hotmail.com
