NEW dancehall sensation Gully Bop is set to grace the stage at Caymanas Park on Saturday, February 7, as the first McKay Security Artiste of the Month for 2015.

Gully Bop, formerly known as 'Country Man', moved from virtual obscurity, repairing fans in the Grants Pen area of St Andrew, to headlining Sting 2014, within weeks of a video of him going viral on YouTube.

His skyrocketing popularity resulted in Sting's most iconic deejay, Ninjaman, staying away from the top dancehall show after being challenged to a clash.

The artiste's Dem Nuh Bad Like Me and Wuk Off A Mi remain in heavy rotation as he is being sought for dub plates by operators of sound systems, locally and internationally.

Gully Bop has been in the news almost daily, turning down an offer of dental help, showing off his new girlfriend/fiancée, having a minor surgery, and being involved in a motor accident.

Jason McKay, chief executive officer, McKay Security, said it was a coup to get Gully Bop at the races. He anticipates one of the biggest crowds ever for a raceday, as Jamaicans continue to rave about the artiste's rags-to-riches story.

"This is different than the normal Artiste of the Month. Gully Bop is the most popular artiste in the country at this time, and there is absolutely nothing to top that," McKay pointed out.

Artistes who have appeared as McKay Security Artiste of the Month at Caymanas Park include I-Octane, Busy Signal, Spice, Tifa, and Alkaline.
