Junior Flemmings a senior prospect |

SHAYNE FAIRMAN, STAR Writer Miguel Coley, assistant coach of Jamaica's senior football team, has described Junior Flemmings, who captained the national Under-20 team, as a key prospect in future national squads, despite the young Reggae Boyz's dismal performance in the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship here in Jamaica. "In terms of his (Flemmings) leadership qualities, he provides a whole lot on any team he plays," Coley said, noting that despite the team's poor performances, he sees a bright football future for the forward. The young Reggae Boyz put on an average and gutless display, and were eliminated from the championship, without a win. The Jamaicans drew games with Caribbean neighbours Trinidad and Tobago and minnows Aruba, and surrendered to Panama, Guatemala and the United States. The poor showing meant they failed to qualify for the 2015 World Cup in New Zealand. " I think there is a high possibility for him to get through to future Reggae Boyz teams," Coley said in an interview with STAR Sports. "Jamaica definitely needs players and talents like Flemmings to help develop, as his game can change, based on the role he has to play in that game," he stated. "As a key person who wants the team to do well, he (Flemmings) will take on any given role and has the ability to win the ball and try to supply it," Coley added. Despite being the Manning Cup's top goalscorer last season, Flemmings could not have led Jamaica's goalscoring charge, as he did for Jamaica College, with more than 20 goals. He was on point in one of five games, where he scored a well-taken last minute free kick against Trinidad and Tobago. Jamaica came from behind to draw that game 2-2. They were unable to score another goal in the four games which followed.
