Sadeke Brooks, Staff Reporter As Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall prepares to go live on January 31, the show's executive producer, Mark Kenny, said he is expecting another epic season. "I just expect it to be as good as, or even better, than, last year. I expect to see some stars this year," he told THE STAR. The new season of the show began late last year with auditions across the island and one in Trinidad. The first audition show was aired on January 17. the second audition will be shown this weekend on TVJ. Kenny explained that he was pleased with the talent pool from Trinidad. three contestants were chosen from that country. "We have new contestants from Trinidad so we expect that to mix it up a little. I think they will bring a different cultural perspective. It will be interesting to see how they interpret dancehall. I think they are quite strong and, so, hopefully, they will match up with the Jamaicans," he said, adding that he is expecting a superb season, based on the auditions. For this season, Kenny said viewers will also be able to vote from Trinidad. Depending on how successful the Trinidad addition is, Kenny said thought might be given to include other Caribbean countries. "At the moment, we are concentrating on Trinidad, and see how that works out, and then look at the rest of the Caribbean," he said. When the live show starts airing on TVJ on January 31, Kenny said he hopes the public will be supportive. |
