I won't resign!

... Whitmore refuses to step down following young Reggae Boyz dreadful show at Under-20 Championships

National under-20 head coach, Theodore Whitmore, says he will not be stepping down, despite the team's horrible performance at the CONCACAF Championships here in Jamaica.

The young Reggae Boyz crashed out of the tournament on Sunday, after going down 2-0 to the United States at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.

The defeat was the Jamaicans third straight loss of the tournament. They were also beaten by Guatemala and Panama and earlier drew 2-2 with rivals Trinidad and Tobago.

"I won't be resigning. It is up to the president of the technical committee to decide," said Whitmore in an interview with STAR Sports.

He added that a comedy of errors and lack of planning heading into the tournament resulted in the team's dreadful show.

"There are number of errors that were made and I just have do a report and submit it to the technical committee and then take it from there," Whitmore said.

"We might have not gotten the results, but weren't outplayed, but goals win matches and the results that counts," he said.

Whitmore noted there is nothing to be ashamed of because the young Reggae Boyz did their best during the tournament.

"We were very disappointed with performances and we just have to move forward and ensure that the same mistakes don't happen again," he said.

"I don't want to point any fingers at anybody. We just have to move forward and learn from our mistakes."

"A lot of things could have been different and so we just have to move forward and ensure that this thing doesn't happen again," he said.

"It was very disappointing as host country, but that is just football," he concluded.
