Club fight leads to $20,000 fine |

|
A woman accused of injuring the wrong person during an altercation at a nightclub was fined $20,000 when she appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is 23-year-old Shanique DaCosta. The court heard that on the day of the incident, the complainant, who was in a nightclub, was involved in an altercation with an individual. During the dispute, the complainant flung a shoe which hit a woman in the eye. It is understood that the complainant had extensive treatment to the eye, which she almost lost. Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey then ordered that the money be paid or she serves six months in prison. |
