Illegal gun and ammunition seized |

The police in St Elizabeth seized an illegal firearm and a quantity of assorted rounds of ammunition in Breadnut Walk district in the parish on Monday. No one was arrested in connection with this incident. Information reaching THE STAR indicate that the operation was conducted by detectives from the St Elizabeth division's Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with assistance from officers attached to the Operational Support Team (OST) in the parish. Reports from the Black River police are that about 5 p.m., the lawmen were in the area when they were fired upon by armed men occupying a house. The men escaped and the house subsequently searched. One .45 Smith and Wesson pistol with a magazine containing four .45 rounds of ammunition was seized. Further investigation led them to a bag containing four .45 rounds of ammunition and seven 9mm rounds of ammunition. Investigations continue.
