Nodley Wright, STAR Writer Humble Lion's winning run under the guidance of former national Under-20 coach Donovan Duckie in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) continued on Monday night. The Clarendon-based team recorded their fourth straight win since Duckie took over and their eighth overall thank to a captain's strike from Jermaine Christian in the 64th minute for a 1-0 win over Rivoli United. With the win they, moved to the top half of the table on 28 points to sit a place and a point behind fifth-place Rivoli United, "Right now, we just want to continue on this unbeaten streak and create history for Humble Lion. We have never been to the semi-final before, so we are vying for that. one, two, three or four, it does not matter. We just want one of them," captain and goalscorer Christian said at the end of the game played at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex. excellent coach Christian, who formerly represented Sporting Central and Denbigh High school, gave coach Donovan Duckie credit for lifting the team. "There are a lot of things that have changed since this new coach has taken over. Duckie is an excellent coach and we just have to take on board what he has been trying to teach us and execute it. If we do that then we will achieve our goals," the resident of Effortville said. His own performance, Christian said, was influenced by Duckie's guidance. "As the coach says to us, we should just come and have fun as we have put in the hard work in training, so matches are all about execution, and I think we did that this evening. With that done, we were good, and I would say I had a good performance because of that," said Christian, whose goal was set up by a wonderful defence-splitting pass from Wolry Wolfe. |
