The police in Manchester seized a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in Inverness in the parish on Monday. Four men were taken into custody in connection with the seizure, the police said.

Reports reaching THE STAR from the Newport police are that about 8:26 p.m., a team of officers was on patrol in the area when they signalled the driver of a vehicle with four men aboard to stop.

It is reported that during a search of the vehicle and its occupants, the police discovered one 9mm pistol and a magazine containing fourteen 9mm rounds of ammunition. The gun and ammunition were seized and the four men detained, the police said.

The identities of the men taken into custody are being withheld pending further investigations, the police said.
