Jah9 rocks Rebel Salute

Rising female reggae artiste, Jah9 was definitely one of the performers who took centre stage at Rebel Salute, held at Richmond Estate, in Priory, St Ann.

Giving much credence to MC Jenny Jenny's introduction of her being 'little but tallawah', Jah9 kept the audience tuned in to her performance from start to finish, impressing with her powerful voice and conscious lyrics in a set that lasted approximately half an hour.

Wearing a long, black fitted dress, matched by bold orange, arm and neck accessories, the Trelawny native wasted no time in entertaining the audience with singles including New Name, Steamers A Bubble and Avocado, which she later told The Star was based on a true story about her life.

Following her performance, Jah9 expressed appreciation for the support of the audience, and discussed her musical plans for year.

"It's very nice to hear that the people enjoyed the performance. I didn't really have a lot of time, and I couldn't see the audience, but I could feel the energy and I could feel the love. Anywhere Rasta people, conscious people and positive people gather, there is always positive vibration," she said.

Jah9 said she will be busy for most of 2015, working on an EP and touring overseas.

"I am looking forward to new music and carrying the music around the world into some new markets," she said.

"I am going into the United States very soon, and I also have plans to go into Japan. We should be on the road, heading to the east coast of the US, by the second week in February, and then we will be on to France in the spring, and then the rest of Europe in the summer. We pretty much will be on the road this year."
