Shaw sounds early warning

ST Jago's Kimone Shaw led the way on a day of outstanding results in the 200m event at the Puma/Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association Kirkvine Development meet at the Windalco Sports Club on Saturday.

On her season debut, the second-year class three athlete was a cut above her peers, with a clear victory in her heat (24.6 seconds) to top the overall event.

Carla Lawson of Spot Valley High was second overall in 25.1 seconds, with Michala Hewitt of Holmwood also posting 25.1 seconds for third overall.

Angella Jackson of Green Island was best in class two, after posting 24.1 seconds, as Kisha Smith (24.5) of Herbert Morrison, and Lecia Robindon of Holmwood (24.8), finished second and third overall, respectively.

Kingston College's Twayne Crooks and Hujaye Cornwall of St Elizabeth Technical produced the fastest time of the day in class one, clocking 22.0 seconds to win their heats.

Devaughn Ellington of Petersfield finished third overall with 21.1 seconds. Among the clubs and institutions, G.C. Foster College's Raheem Jackson and the University of Technology's, Ajamu Gragan reigned supreme, both posting 21.7 seconds. Jason Williams of MVP was third overall with 21.9 seconds.
