Bail amounting to $14 million was offered to three men in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Wednesday, after they were apprehended following a raid on the premises of a prominent ophthalmologist last year.

The three men, along with the ophthalmologist are being accused of cheating the public revenue of millions of dollars.

Charged with two counts of unauthorised access to computer programme or data, unauthorised interception of computer function or service, six counts of unauthorised modification of computer programme or data and cheating the public revenue, is information technologist Christopher Moore, who was offered $10 million with one or two sureties.

He was ordered to surrender his travel documents and stop orders issued against him. He was also ordered to report to the Revenue Protection Division.

Accountant Christopher Wilson and auditor David Johnson, who are both charged with cheating the public revenue, were offered $2 million each and ordered to report to the Caymanas police.

Ophthalmologist Dr William Lee, who is charged with cheating the public revenue, had his bail extended in court.

Prosecutors argued that more time was needed to complete their analysis of laptops seized in the case and at least four weeks to complete the case file.

The prosecutors also argued against granting bail to Moore, however, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey granted him bail.

A plea and case management hearing is to be held on March 11, mention date.
