Bjorn Burke, Staff Reporter A man accused of breaking into a house was further remanded when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday. Charged with housebreaking and larceny is 27-year-old labourer Randel Davis of a Blissett Avenue, Kingston 20 address, who pleaded guilty to the offence. Allegations are that in November 2014, the complainant, who is a caretaker of a dwelling house, left the building securely locked up to conduct business. Upon his return on January 5, he discovered that an implement was used to chop out a section of concrete in proximity to burglar bars situated toward the rear of the house. He observed that someone had entered the building, making off with a number of items. Upon close investigation, it was revealed that eight doors valued at over $75,000, one glass window, one kitchen sink, a white four burner stove, a television set, a DVD player, one toilet bowl, two face basins, four truck springs valued at $40,000, two truck gas pumps valued at $150,000, and two chrome truck bumpers among other miscellaneous truck parts were missing. The total value of the items stolen is estimated at more than $265,000. After detectives probed the matter, Davis was arrested and charged. In court, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered the accused further remanded until February 12, pending trial. A fingerprint order was previously made against him. |
