Fan dies after Eminem's visit

A terminally ill Eminem fan died shortly after receiving a visit from the star on Sunday. Gage Garmo, 17, passed away from osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, on Monday night, approximately 24 hours after the 42-year-old rapper surprised him at his home in Rochester, Michigan - after the teenager's family started a Twitter campaign in an attempt to convince his idol to pay a visit.

Hundreds of students joined Gage's family for a candlelight vigil in his honour at Rochester High School last Monday night.

The sick teen would have celebrated his 18th birthday last Friday, according to Gawker.com.

Gage was overjoyed when the Berzerk hitmaker secretly travelled from Atlanta to his home, where they chatted about basketball and hip hop for about two hours, after Rainbow Connection, a charity which aims to grant wishes to children in Michigan with life-threatening illnesses, helped to organise the special visit at short notice.

Mary Grace McCarter, executive director at Rainbow Connection, previously said: "We're so glad we were able to reach Eminem's people and they were able to respond. Eminem was able, on such short notice, to go and see this boy in his own home.

"It says something about everybody, really. I hope all the students and friends of Gage feel good about their well-wishes, too."
